The Outline Global journey began in 2007 with a small team. Frustrated by the lack of advancement in the aerial survey technology, in 2015 we designed and commercialised the first Gtech™ Aerial Camera Pod system using global best of breed technology – the best money could buy. We now have a growing number of aerial imagery pods based on the original design and have added LiDAR and thermal camera systems. We are focused on implementing a well-considered growth plan and building out many more systems, products, and related AI services.

Our staff compliment is expanding to support this growth and the continued high demand for our services. Our primary data processing centre is located in Melbourne with significant operational presence in other states.

Position Purpose

  • Support the LiDAR operations with flight planning and systems deployment to acquire high-quality LiDAR data..
  • Provide technical and operational support in operating Outline’s proprietary LiDAR hardware and software.
  • Assist the LiDAR sales team as a trusted technical advisor and be able to assist with customer project planning and quotations as required.
  • Assist the full LiDAR workflow from initial data QC through to final data delivery and value-added product generation.

This role will report into the LiDAR Manager.

The role includes accountability for the succesul functioning of LiDAR systems and techncial aspects of aerial operations.

Accountabilities

  • LiDAR acquisition: Support the LiDAR operations with flight planning and systems deployment to acquire high-quality LiDAR data.
  • Gain detailed understanding of the technical aspects of operating Outline’s proprietary LiDAR hardware and software.
  • Support flight crews to successfully execute missions.
  • Assist the LiDAR sales team as a trusted technical advisor and be able to assist with customer project planning and quotations as required.
  • LiDAR processing: Understand and assist the full LiDAR workflow from initial data QC through to final data delivery and value-added product generation.
  • LiDAR data analysis and value add: Identify, plan and execute refinements to a series of standard and bespoke value-added products based on the LiDAR data, working in close consultation with Outline's AI/machine learning team.
  • Traditional photogrammetry: Be familiar and assist with the full workflow of photogrammetric processing of airborne remotely sensed imagery, in particular for imagery captured in conjunction with LIDAR data.
  • Spatial data: Spatial data collection and analysis, management and quality control in accordance with Outline's ISO 9001 accreditation. spatial data import and export to various data formats.

Capabilities

  • University degree (or equivalent) in photogrammetry, spatial sciences, remote sensing and/or GIS.
  • 5+ years of practical experience in LIDAR data acquisition and processing, aerial imagery, photogrammetry and/or spatial sciences.
    Show a real interest in the engineering and technical functioning of LiDAR systems and processes and have a natural problem solving mindset.
  • Ability to work efficiently and independently with an eye for detail and quality outcomes.
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines and to work under pressure in a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, proactively, and accurately with colleagues.
  • Self-motivated and willing to learn and most importantly asking questions.
  • Ability and flexibility in multi-tasking.
  • Knowledge of python or similar for scripting of automation of LIDAR data processing.
  • Experience with LIDAR hardware, data and value-added solutions.
