While the devastating floods that swept across Victoria left hundreds of residents on high alert, Outline was busy imaging the extent to the flood for the Goulburn Catchment Management Authority (GCMA). The objective of the GCMA was to use this imagery for flood model calibrations along the Goulburn and Broken Rivers. Outline was able to provide the flexibility and responsiveness required to capture imagery under ever changing scenarios of flood peak timing and inclement weather conditions. The GCMA was able to reprioritise areas of interest ‘on the fly’ and task the Outline team with updated priorities on a daily or even intra-day basis. Outline’s use of advanced image processing techniques enabled the GCMA to identify and map peak flood lines even though imagery was often captured under sub-optimal lighting conditions.
